Use WHO standards for <2 years (breastfed-infant reference, prescriptive) and CDC charts for ≥2 years (US reference, descriptive). AAP officially endorses this split since 2010.

- Extended BMI-for-age growth charts — published 2022 to track BMI in children with severe obesity (previously capped at the 97th percentile).
